WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO PUT ON COMPRESSION SOCKS?
Now you’ve got your new pair of compression socks. Once you open the package to try them on, you might notice that they’re a little more difficult to put on than a regular pair of socks. And that tight compression that gives you loads of physical benefits can be a bit of a struggle if you don’t know the proper way to put on compression socks. However, no worries! We’re here to help you with some useful step-by-step tips and tricks for quickly putting on your socks and get to your day.
First, it is important that the stockings are sized correctly.
If you choose large-sized compression socks, then they will not provide adequate compression to be therapeutic. If you choose small-sized compression socks, then they will be hard to put on, uncomfortable to wear, and potentially cause more harm than good.
GET COMFY ON THE FLOOR
To put on compression socks comfortably, you need a little extra leverage for pulling on your socks; so try to get in a comfortable spot on the floor where you have some wiggle room. Further, you can put them on by sitting on a comfortable chair or you can sit on the edge of your bed. You just have to give yourself enough space to move freely.
PUT YOUR ARM IN THE SOCK
Once, you sit comfortably, turn the upper half of the socks inside out and use your one hand to reach into the compression sock and grab the toe of the sock. Then use your second hand to turn the upper half of the compression sock inside out (your arm will go all the way in until your palm is on the heel of the sock.)
PINCH THE HEEL
Next, pinch the middle of the compression socks heel to your palm with your thumb like you’re making a sock puppet.
TURN SOCK INSIDE OUT
Now, pull the top of the compression sock down your arm so that it can easily turn inside out. After that, stop when you reach your thumb, which should still be holding the heel of the compression sock. This should give you extremely easy access to put your foot inside the socks.
ROLL UP YOUR COMPRESSION SOCK
Once, you gently place your foot in the toe of the sock, you can slide the stocking up over your heel.
Remember: Make sure the top of the compression stockings remains inside out.
SMOOTH BUNCHES DIRECTLY UNDER KNEE
If your compression socks are inflexible against your leg, then Graduated Compression design won’t work exactly as it should. And if there is any extra fabric leftover, then try to make a crisp fold directly under your knee. This will help keep your compression socks securely in place because you have to move throughout your day without compromising any of the compression benefits.
